Cons

Current Employee, more than 8 years
Pros
Students are really free to limited themselves; teachers come from all backgrounds professionally, and share that with their students in a positive fashion; many opportunities to back up the arts as a instructor; a fair fleck of freedom with how each teacher decides to instruct; very understanding of family emergency/medical time off
Cons
Disconnected, moody, and condescending assistants, to the point of bullying teachers and staff; teachers can't bring up concerns to admin for fearfulness of backlash; inept back up staff; misguided funds and schoolhouse improvement projects; abiding barrage of "printing releases" from the CEO over-hyping the schoolhouse; communication has improved but still not not bad; insanely high turnover

Electric current Employee, more than ten years
Pros
The positive elements of Thousand-Star is the quality didactics the students receive from all the teachers and staff. Our students have been accepted to many of the nations highest bookish universities for undergraduate degrees and graduate degrees with two Yard-Star alumni only receiving their Masters degrees from Oxford University in England. All the instructor computers were up graded this year with new PC CPU's and student computers in the library are the aforementioned 1 the teachers all received and are upward to appointment with the latest software for educatee daily use and the mandated testing requirements past the state of Florida. I get to teach some of the most motivated students in Palm Beach County, Florida.
Cons
The merely CON is the school can't accept more students than we currently enroll. Equally an "A" rated Charter school and since the students achieve academically the cons are out weighed by the positive back up from the teachers, and staff. I come up from the existent world task market ( Television) where competiveness between employees to succeed and produce shows was and is still very intense. I survived 17 years every bit a television set producer/director and sympathize that sometimes it's best to get out at or near the tiptop of your game. The biggest CON has been having to listen to a few teachers constantly complain about everything from salary to environmental concerns which have never been found by health section inspections. If you can brand more money elsewhere why are you lot however here? If you are unhappy at Thou-Star get out as apace every bit possible, the students will survive and perform improve without your negative vibes....

Pros
The kinesthesia and staff are welcoming and behave like a family. They intendance very much for the success of their students. Plus, the students are vivid in all that they do. I love the school culture of G-Star. I love that they have a 0 tolerance policy for bullying, drugs or any other inappropriate behavior.
Cons
There really are none. Working at G-Star has been the jackpot for me. If I had to choose one thing for improvement, it would exist more space for a still growing school.

Concern Outlook
Pros
The students are smart and artistic. This is a safe place for LGBT students and workers. This school has a zero tolerance policy for bullying.
Cons
The school could use additional funding. More computers for instance. However, we but were provided with new computers that work well. We as well now accept a cleaning service that keeps everything disinfected and in guild.

Former Employee, more than 5 years
Pros
G-Star demonstrates the benefits of an arts-integrated education and the type of people it attracts also every bit the social-emotional intelligence that it fosters. Its greatest assets are its astonishing and diverse educatee population (often the "misfits" from other schools) and some wonderful, defended, caring teachers. G-Star has much less bullying, safety and drug bug than many other schools (but information technology is certainly not completely issue-gratuitous or "nation'south safest school" as Admin likes to claim). Information technology has earned an "A" school rating 3 years in a row.
Cons
Unfortunately, One thousand-Star has horrible facilities and resource: extremely loftier charge per unit of educatee and staff absence due to ill building syndrome on old campus with poor IAQ and environmental health problems: leaky roofs, loftier humidity, black mold, hurricane-damaged portables that had been previously thrown abroad by other schools, possibly dangerous drinking water (campus is a former toxic superfund site); extremely outdated textbooks and technology (upwardly-to-appointment materials reserved for movie department while core academics become worst classrooms, quondam Dells, 1998 Microsoft Office, one-time projectors, three shared copiers for entire kinesthesia), shower stall boards instead of bodily dry-erase boards and no budget for needed materials. Thou-Star teacher pay ranks in everyman ten% for charter schools in Palm Beach County, which is ane of lowest in unabridged state - no COL increases, loyalty pay raises, or salary commensurate with rest of county. Assistants regularly misrepresents/spins actual conditions, writes false online reviews (including some here), makes hyperbolic claims, and fires staff or forces out students who express serious concerns, valid criticisms or anything the CEO considers at all disparaging to carefully-crafted image of the school. The multi-million dollar motion-picture show studio does not support the schoolhouse nor provide significant usage by students. It is primarily reserved for industry or celebrities who enjoy sub-standard rates and gratis educatee labor. CEO Greg Hauptner is a former hairdresser and possessor of a failed franchise with no pedagogy background/knowledge, minimal business organization sense beyond a bottom-line and incompetence in facilities maintenance. He apparently started a flick school as a pathway to fortune and fame (his part walls are covered with pictures of celebrities, while he doesn't really know or seem to intendance nearly students or staff).
